NOELY'S STORY

Hi, my name is Noely De La Cruz, and I started going to Bethel Baptist Church when I was eight years old through the bus ministry. I got saved on June 2010 after the first night of Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Janet, a member of my church, pulled me aside after the service, and presented the gospel to me. Before getting saved, my life wasn’t fully complete with the friends I had and all the things I was doing at just a young age. But after learning about the love Jesus has for me, my life started changing little by little. I made it a goal to go to church every Sunday without missing a day! I began to make better decisions and made better friends than I had before! I am thankful for Mrs. Janet, who presented the gospel to me, Mrs. Green, who picked me up on the bus every Sunday and Wednesday and always checked up on my family, and for my stepdad who encouraged me to keep my walk with God strong. Now, I get to serve on the bus ministry and see kids’ lives changed for Jesus! With Jesus, I am complete!

Favorite Verse: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6 #bbctestimonies

CARLOS' STORY

Hi, my name is Carlos Gonzalez, and I have served as a deacon here at Bethel for the last 16 years, worked with our teenagers for 18 years, and have recently started working in our guest experience ministry for the past 4 months.

I accepted Christ in Sunday school when I was 10 years old, but as a young Mexican teenager growing up in Long Beach, in the early 90’s when the Hip Hop was at its peak and the gangs were an epidemic, I made many bad decisions that have scarred my life even to this day. Life without a thriving relationship with Christ was useless and empty. Since I surrendered to Christ, my desires changed to reflect the desires of Christ’s heart. I once had a passion for things of this world, but now I desire to live a life that is pleasing to God by being a faithful husband, godly father, and a servant to my church family.

I would like to thank Pastor Green who took me under his wing and showed me what it is to be a man of God. I would also like to thank my Pastor, Justin Reed. He is a great friend and continually challenges me to continue to serve Christ with an authentic heart. I would also like to thank my sister Maggie. Maggie has always kept me in her prayers even when I was out running around in the world. I truly believe that it was her faithful prayers for me that drew me back to a relationship with Christ. Lastly, I would like to thank my family. My kids have been a blessing in my walk with Christ. They often teach me and humble me when I need to see things through a different perspective…and where will I be without my wife. My wife is my biggest supporter and encourager. She has been with me through the low times, but has always allowed me to be the leader of our home. She challenges me to keep Christ above all.

What I love about Bethel is the heart beat of our church. Everything we do has a purpose to see souls saved or enrich peoples walk with the Lord. Bethel is also unique in the way of how many different cultures attend and serve in our church family. Our pastor leads our church by faith and not by sight.
